Records of the German Protestant Orphanage Home (Louisville, Ky.) 1851-1966.

Records contain the financial and administrative records of the German Protestant Orphanage Home in Louisville, Ky. Records from the orphanage's early years are in German and the post-1900 volumes are in English. Twenty-five volumes record the expenses and assets of the home. Included are lists of montly expenses, assets, and property holdings for the home. In addition to financial records, there are several volumes of meeting minutes for the Board of Trustees and the Ladies Aid Society. Also included are volumes containing superintendent's reports, which provide narrative accounts of activities at the home over an extended period. Volumes also contain applications for admisstion to the home, admission and discharge records, and an alphabetical index of children's last names and contracts of indenture between the home and local businesses. Many of the volumes provide inexes or tabs organized alphabetically by last name or subject. There are also loose materials in many of the books that relate to information found in the volumes.
